Linda Dreisen (b.1983) is a photojournalist and communication designer, based in Douala, Cameroon.
After working as a theater painter, illustrator and graphic designer, Linda started using photography to capture her environment. She studied communication design, photojournalism and documentary photography at the University of Applied Science and Arts in Hanover which she finished in early 2013. Her works appeared in exhibitions worldwide and she works for various magazines and newspapers in Europe and abroad.
As a photographer she is interested in cultural, environmental and humanitarian reportages and besides working on assignments, she spend several months in Asia, Central America and Central Africa, working on personal long term projects.
Besides her visual work Linda has been an active part of several cultural events, festivals and exhibitions and enjoys giving workshops in photography, storytelling, communication design and journalism in Berlin, Germany and Bamenda, Cameroon.
Since 2016 she is based in Douala, Cameroon where she is working with the team of doual’art, a non profit cultural organization and art center founded in 1991.
Doual’art focuses on new urban practices of African cities using contemporary art to foster Douala’s cultural and urban identity. The organisation is producing public artwork, hosting exhibitions of Cameroonian Artists and connecting contemporary artists of all nationalities to work in the neighborhoods of Douala. Since 2007 doual’art organizes the SUD Salon Urbain de Douala, a triennial art festival which produces public art for the city of Douala, with a new edition happening in December 2017. Linda is part of the communication team of doual’art and in charge of the visual communication, design, photography, social media and public relations.
